Our film went a long way to Potsdam, where Paulina Bocheńska took it over and is doing the sound post-production. Within the next few weeks we have to record the offs in a studio in Warsaw and then do the sound transfer in Toya Studio in Lodz .
In the meantime Maciej Gajewski and I are producing trailers. We encourage you to watch our trailer of Hyena, a Polish thriller. We hope it will make you watch the film:

Unfortunately you will not be able to hear the song 'Dzień dobry, kocham cię' by Strachów Na Lachy. We edited the film and it turned out that this song doesn't fit the story.
A song, which perfectly fits our film is 'Łydka' sung by Happysad. I would like to thank Kuba Kawalec, the whole band and Beata Mencel from SP Records for a permit to use the piece. You can visit the band's site here:

The film's original soundtrack was created by Krzysztof Paluchowski. Few samples of his work will be available soon in trailers section.

We have edited Everything! After many weeks the film is finally born. It lasts 14 minutes (excluding the credits) and is wonderful as every child! Now Paulina Bocheńska takes over, as she will do the sound post-production. Consultations and test shows will follow and if everything turns out to be alright, all we will need before the long awaited première, will be €7,500 for the post-production.

New contacts, new inspiration and six Polish films a day. Today starts the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia. My film isn't shown here this year but we have a whole year before the next edition so we should make it. The editing is almost complete, thus now sound postproduction and further money-seeking await us.

From the 'Tales from the editing room' series: the story of our film told by Maciej Gajweski, the editor.
Hush... a film is on the table. You just have to find it. Quietly. Don't frighten it off. Carefully and delicately... frame after frame... cutting off those few minutes of film from hours of footage. Sometimes a film doesn't like to be easily found. Then it hides between the scenes, buries itself in takes and lies in wait in ordinary frames. Sometimes it even burns your hard drive. The better it hides, the bigger satisfaction from finding it.
We have finally found it! It still has bad hair and longish sleeves. It's worth spending some time on it and cut it here and there before it ends up where it belongs - on the big screen.

First number of 'Maturzysta', a Polish magazine for secondary school pupils, has come out. Its first page features a young director who set up a website to make his dreams of making a film come true. Wow. It's my first cover.
Below the cover and a very interesting interview which Marta Sarnacka made with me. The interview is illustrated with a photo from the 'hottest Polish celebrities' gallery.

Over 400 people have supported our project so far! I thank them all. We still need €10,000 to finish it off and I feel that it won't be possible without help from the West. Therefore I decided to arouse the interest of western media in our wonderful idea. Now I'm sending a press release to all known mass media hoping that someone will publish it and thousands of people will be able to read it. Right now I'm going through this list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_newspapers

A blow. One of our computers, which we used for editing, has burnt. Most of the work has to be done anew. Plus of this: if you do something for the second time you do it better. Minus: considerable delay. Yet we're struggling. As soon as we edit the film we will face another big problem: shortage of money. Here we're struggling even harder.

Taken from the series 'Tales from the cutting studio': the work goes slowly. But if something is supposed to be good, it needs time. Certainly a lot of things could have been done better, and we've made many mistakes. But we've made a film, which, when watching it, makes me thing: I like it. Before others will be able to assess, a lot of work is still to be done. There are a couple of things we want to change, smooth, carve, throw away. Work in progress.

The film is being still edited so we have to wait few days more. At the same time we are trying to find a sponsor, who would like to promote himself through our superb project. For the shooting alone we have spent €7500. It is not a large amount considering the fact that we managed to get vast part of the equipment and services on a very easy terms (big thanks to the partners). However we need another €7500 for the post production. Première after summer. We're looking for money.

30th May 2007 - Tape Development and One Light Transfer
Just one day after shooting the tape was developed and transferred. We reached the Laboratorium late in the night. Having looked through the shots I can say two things: great pictures, great acting. Now we have to put it all together and see if it all makes sense.
29th May 2007 - The last day of shooting
End of shooting. After 15 hours of work we have everything. It's good. This time the weather has taken its chance and hasn't disturbed us. Tomorrow a visit in a laboratory, then a long long postproduction stage and money searching stage.

The club. We've made it. Excelent shots. Michal Koterski and Antek Pawlicki have played a brilliant scene. Big thanks to all extras. Well done.
26th May 2007 - Michał Koterski to join our crew
Some love him, other hate, but it is now certain that Michał Koterski is going to take part in our film. After long hours of negotiations Misiek has confirmed his participation in our project. Will he manage to create together with Atek Pawlicki the most funny scene of the film? We will see on Monday's shootings. Michal is going to play a role of a bartender, whom Monika's guy - plaued by Antek - tells his affairs of the heart.
22nd May 2007 - ADDITIONAL SCHOOTING SOON
28th - 29th May. These days we are on the set again to correct what was incorrect and to make up what we didn't manage to record. On Monady we are in Hybrydy club where we are going to do the missing shots of dancing Monica and dancing crowd. On Tuesday outside scenes in the sun and the rain, and in the evening in front of the club. A lot of work to do.

20th May 2007 - RECORDING OFFS

Our sound director Paulina Bocheńska, took us today to the gloomy nooks of basement of Academy of Music, where in several hours we recorded main character's offs, who was impersonated by Mateusz Banasiak again. Came out well.

Another outstanding thanks. This time to Joanna Majchrzak and Sanplast company, which made us its interiors available for our shootings. In Sanplast bathroom we've arranged our main character bathroom, where writing beautiful love poems he climbes to the top of his genius. Meanwhile we still work hard. In the next few days we are going to do additional shootings. In a little while we are going to appear in a sound studio to record main character's offs.

13th May 2007 - TAPE's DEVELOPMENT AND ONE LIGHT TRANSFER
I've spent Today's morning in a Laboratorium, where together with the crew we've watched developed materials. I was really close to depression. That's absolutely normal when watching materials for the first time. Then I went to a cinema to watch a film that turned out to be kind of stupid. That really improved my mood. I've watched my materials for the second time and now I can see that it is going to be a good film. We still have some additional shootings to perform, there are some details I want to correct. Now we have to do everything to make it better and better. Ania Sujka have implemented one transfer light for us and we start editing. There's going to be a film!
12th May 2007 - A SUMMARY OF SHOOTING
At the beginning we've planned 5 days of shooting. After trial shootings we've decided to speed up a bit and do everything within 4 days, and to leave the last 5th day for possible additional shooting if something has gone wrong. First two days were brilliant. We've filmed all locations, a culminating scene of declaration of love, many beautiful takes has been created, all the actors played wonderfully. Problems occured when we came with the camera outside. We had a night shooting in front of the club when temperature was really low, then sunny scenes in the courtyard during the rain. It was really hard, we do our best and I don't know whether I want to improve it anyhow. It is told that good weather is in favour of good films, so we're going to give the weather the last chance during additional shootings. Tomorrow we will see our materials.
10 May 2007 - FOURTH DAY OF SHOOTING
The end. That was a really hard day - with a fire brigade and an artificial rain given us by Janusz Bykowski. Unfortunatelly it was raining for real for the most of a day what made it unable to film one of the scenes. We have some scenes unfilmed and we have to make it up somehow in the next two weeks. It can be better. Now we are waiting for developing a tape and then we will see what we have. If it comes out wrong, we will be correcting it til it will be a masterpiece. It has to be a mastery so we are going to improve it and improve it as long as it will be necessary.
Dziś na planie gościliśmy min. wysłanników Polskiego Instytutu Sztuki Filmowej bez wsparcia którego nasza produkcja byłaby niemożliwa. Oto relacja:

9th May 2007 - THIRD DAY OF SHOOTING |
Today we finished late in the night. It's not so good. Since early morning we've filmed scene in Hybrydy club, which came out quite well (big thanks to all extras). Then we changed our location to Blue Cactus, to shot a scene in front of the club. It was really cold outside. Came out so so.
8th May 2007 - SECOND DAY OF SHOOTING
Today we filmed scenes in a main character's house. A main character role is playes by Mateusz Banasiuk, Joanna Górniak and Stanisław Banasiuk play roles of his parents. 6 scenes in total. 10 magnificent shots in terms of acting and camera work (not mentioning a direction). Well done. We still give shape!
7th May - FIRST DAY OF SHOOTING
A beginning. A good one. We've filmed a culminating scene - a main character's declaration of love. Very well done. Then we've filmed a scene where a boy and a girl are lying naked in bed. We have three beautiful shots and it took several hours to edit them. It was all worth it, because these shots are pure masterpieces. As we didn't manage to film a scene in from of the club we are going to make it up at Thursday. Better than not bad!
1st May 2007
We have test shots behind us. In two days we've filmed all scenes, then we've edited them in 24 hours. There's a lot of things that have to be changed, improved, invented, but as I watch it, I think there's going to be something out of it. We give shape!
30th April 2007
Test shots are in progress. We record everything on dvdcam in our locations, shot after shot according to a storyboard. No scenography, no light, only actors and camera. When I edit it, I will tell you what will come out of this.

Many articles concerning our film appear in Polish press. It is so great that so many newspapers help us by promoting our project. In the meantime, when we don't give interviews, we work hard on our film. Rehearsals with actors are in progress. We complete scenography, stage props, costums. We begin test shots soon.

Another great actors have joined the crew! Joanna Górniak and Stanisław Banasiuk will play the role of the boy's parents - people without dreams or faith in anything. And yes, Mr Stanisław is the father of Mateusz Banasiuk who plays the leading role. Film-to-be! Euro2012-to-be!

Antoni Pawlicki has accepted the role of Monica's Boyfriend, who is the main character's rival competing for the girl's love and attention. Antoni has graduated the Acting Department of The State Theatre Academy. He is well known to millions of Poles for his parts is many films, including very good but underestimated Slawomir Fabicki's 'Z odzysku'. May the 7th. The date we start the shooting! Boy, I'm excited! We still cannot afford to make the whole film, as we have only half the money we need. But we're fighting and the situation is improving. Moreover we have established cooperation with Panavision - many thanks to Alicja Chrzanowska and Hanna Rakowska. The film will be shoot on 16mm tape! To cinema! Awesome! And today is Marta's birthday, my friend and co-producer, who immensely contributed to everything we have achieved so far. Many happy returns of the day, Marta!

Today we won the support of the Hybrydy, Club, where we will shoot our film. We would like to express our gratitude to Mr Sławomir Sokołowski. Some quite difficult shots have to be taken there. Curiously enough, I have to confess to you, that I have never ever seen a good club scene in a Polish film (yet I haven't seen all of them). All the scenes I had the opportunity to watch, were unreal and each character had his own lamp, which made him well visible no matter what the surrounding was. People in the back were pretending they fit there and absolutely never had loud music disturbed any conversation. Having seen all this I decided to take much better shots in a club! We will see how will I cope without money, but we are definitely going face it! There will be lots of dancing people, flashing lights and if anyone would like to say something, they will have to scream it out! What a film! Shooting schedule will follow soon.

Little change in the cast. It is a pleasure to introduce to you Marta Żmuda-Trzebiatowska, who have joined our crew. She is a student of the Acting Department of Warsaw's Theatre Academy. This is the sum I have been given to make the film! Everything goes in the right way! The amount is the reward I was presented by the Polish Film Institute. I would like to thank Ms Agnieszka Odorowicz, the PFI director and the employees of Institutes's press office as well :) . Now we have half the money needed, but we can finally start the shooting. And we still reckon on your generous support. What a film it's going to be!

We're still counting on you to help us!

I would like to present you the long-awaited storyboard, which I have been creating with the cinematographer Michał Szewczuk and the editor Maciej Gajewski since the beginning of the year. All the pictures are the art of Marta Ogonek. As far as I know most of directors in Poland do not use storyboards but just improvise on the set and then try to save the film in post-production. I don't. I start the cooperation with the editor from the storyboard. Now you can assess the first effects of this cooperation. I present you this invented construction, a consistently told love story embellished with pictures. Relish!
